Feeling This Blog Tour: Review + Teaser + Playlist + Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the Feeling This blog tour hosted by Into the Night Book Reviews!

Review:

The beginning of this book totally drew me in. There are two different story lines and I couldn’t figure out how the two characters were going to come together, so I was immediately intrigued. What was interesting was that in the beginning I was reading for Jordan’s story, and then once his world met up with Kimber’s, I wound up reading for her. While I had some qualms about how fast their relationship escalated, I definitely think if you’re a fan of relationships that cross socio-economic boundaries then this is a great book for you.
Jordan experiences this huge and painful loss in the beginning. There are all these secrets and interesting relationships that unfold immediately in Jordan’s family, with his fiancée and her family. I was really looking to get caught up in his world and to untangle everything. But when Jordan loses Susan, his ties to that world unravel and he disappears to the middle of nowhere. His whole healing process was painful but it’s what kept me attached to him. You want to hug him and tell him everything is going to be okay.
At first, Kimber made me a little crazy with her woe-is-me story. But pretty soon you can see that she’s doing everything she can to get out of her situation. And even though I had a hard time wanting Jordan to move on so soon, I really did like Kimber once Jordan entered her life. It both made her a little less intense and her best side really seemed to come out. She is crazy and strong and she’s feisty, but all of those things just made her endearing when she was with Jordan.
Emotions run high in this book and when things are happy you’re just waiting for the next disaster to happen. Every good moment is surrounded by a bit of sadness, which just goes to show how the people we love and lose are always with us. I also love the community that exists around these two and the way they sort of carve out their own space in the world. These are two people trying to figure out where they fit and that’s a really big part of NA, which is handled nicely in this book.
